Two of our Halton Hills Eagles teams landed in Niagara Falls this weekend (July 13-15) for the Greater Niagara Baseball Association Mosquito Select Tournament: The Mosquito Eagles Select and the Mosquito Eagles Tier 2 teams, led by Coaches Blair Herd and Cory Latimer respectively.

Both Eagles squads were impressive in the round-robin with both teams winning their divisions with perfect 3-0 records, advancing to the semi-finals with Eagles Select in the 1st seed position and Eagles Tier 2 seeded 2nd.

Eagles Tier 2 secured their place in the Championship final with a 6-1 victory in 7 innings over Martingrove. Eagles Select were within 2 runs of an Eagles vs. Eagles Championship game, but were narrowly edged out by Brampton in a hard-fought 7-5 semi-final battle.

The Mosquito Tier 2 Eagles brought home the Championship with a back-and-forth 10-7 victory in 7 innings over Brampton.
9 different pitchers toed the rubber for Tier 2 over the weekend, allowing only 14 runs over 5 games. Tier 2 is now 9-2-2 in tournament play this season, having previously had a strong showing in the Mississauga North ‘A’ tournament and finishing as finalists in Brantford ‘B’.

Halton Hills was well-represented in Niagara Falls over the weekend. Congratulations Eagles!
